Katie Holmes Replaces Liv Tyler
Katie Holmes is gracing headlines after the announcement that the actress will take the lead role in the forthcoming indie film The Romantics, which will start shooting in New York this week.
Holmes, of "Dawson's Creek" fame, will be replacing Liv Tyler, who renounced her lead role for undisclosed reasons.
According to Variety reports, Holmes will also executive produce the star-studded film, which will also feature Malin Akerman, Elijah Wood, Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Adam Brody and Jeremy Strong.
The movie's plot centers on eight college friends who reunite for the wedding of character Lila, played by Paquin. Holmes's character, Laura, who is the maid of honor, shares a romantic past with Lila's soon-to-be husband.
Holmes, whose film career has faded since her marriage to Tom Cruise in 2006, seems to be trying to get her career back on track. The actress has recently completed the comedy The Extra Man, due out in 2010, and the thriller Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, due out 2011.
