The former Cy Young award winner was stopped for speeding when officers found marijuana in his vehicle
Last year’s Cy Young award winner and San Francisco Giants ace, Tim Lincecum, was cited for possession of marijuana in his home state of Washington.
The AP reports that Lincecum entered a plea of not guilty on Monday through his attorney.
Lincecum was originally pulled over by a Washington state trooper for speeding on Interstate 5 when his 2006 Mercedes was traveling at a speed of 74 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Upon approaching the car, the officer smelled marijuana as Lincecum rolled down the window. The trooper reported that Lincecum complied with a request to hand over the drugs as well as a marijuana pipe hidden in the center console.
Officers report that Lincecum was in possession of approximately 3.3 grams or the size of a thumb, which is a misdemeanor according to Washington state law.
Lincecum was fined a total of $622 for the speeding ticket as well as the possession. The All-star will appear before a judge again on December 22.
