Sarah Jessica Parker advises the President

Actress becomes newest appointee to Obama's arts and humanities committee.

Sarah Jessica Parker has been busy shooting the sequel to Sex in The City slated for a May 2010 release but recently took time out to become a Presidential adviser. Parker along with, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, celebrated cellist Yo-yo Ma, Oscar-winner Forest Whittaker and Desperate Housewives star Alfre Woodward were among 25 new appointees to Barack Obama's arts and humanities committee.

Parker gave a substantial donation to the Obama campaign and worked the phones at his election headquarters. She will now be responsible to fundraise for after school arts in addition to nominating projects that will encourage people to take an interest in the arts.

First Lady Michelle Obama chairs the committee and has said of the panel, "the arts are not just a nice thing to have or to do if there is free time or if one can afford it. Rather paintings and poetry, music, design and dialogue, they all define who we are as a people and provide an account of our history for the next generation."
