Meyer Fined $30K By SEC
6-Nov-2009
Written by: Matthew Livi

Florida head coach Urban Meyer has been fined $30,000 after criticizing officials.

Georgia v Florida
Florida Gators head coach Urban Meyer was fined $30,000 by the SEC for criticizing officials, reports ESPN. He is the first coach to be fined for criticizing officials under the SEC’s newly implemented restrictions on criticizing officials after making remarks about an alleged miss call officials failed to make against Georgia.
Meyer said that the officials had missed a late hit call on Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, and sent video of the play to the SEC office. It was his comments however that resulted in the fine, reports the Associated Press. The SEC changed its policy about coaches criticizing officials last week after “Tennessee's Lane Kiffin, Mississippi State's Dan Mullen and Arkansas' Bobby Petrino were reprimanded after they publicly questioned officiating.”
