Suspect from Orlando Office Shooting Apprehended at his Mother's Home
News broke earlier this morning about a tragic office shooting in Orlando, Florida that resulted in the death of at least one individual and significant injury to at least five others. The Washington Post is reporting that the suspect who is believed to have terrorized Orlando's Gateway Center, 40-year-old Jason Rodriguez, was taken into custody at his mother's house a few hours after the shootings occurred.
Information has surfaced from police and Rodriguez's former employer about the man who shot six people earlier today and it appears that he had been fired from his position at Reynolds, Smith & Hills Inc. as a result of inadequate performance. According to Police Chief Val Demings, all of the victims in this incident were employees of one company.
Despite earlier reports that indicated four of the victims were in extremely critical' condition, it appears that five of the victims who had been injured in the shooting are currently in stable condition, according to CNN.com. Demings provided a comment to the media in response to this horrific incident that comes just one day after one of the most devastating occurrences of soldier-on-soldier violence at Fort Hood.
Demings said, "This is a tragedy no doubt about it, especially on the heels of the tragedy in Fort Hood that is on our minds. I'm just glad we don't have any more fatalities or any more injuries than we currently have."
