Ellen DeGeneres Makes History on O Cover
6-Nov-2009

Shares honor with First Lady to grace cover of publication.
In the nine year history of O Magazine, Oprah has appeared exclusively on the front cover with only one exception. In April 2009 First Lady Michelle Obama graced the issue with the company cover girl.
Well lightening is striking twice. Ellen DeGeneres will be the second person to adorn the cover after running a huge campaign to get herself there. Public pleas to Ms. W., fake mock ups of the cover, even calling Harpo Studios where Oprah tapes, and being connected to the wrong person didn’t turn her away.
Ellen had a good laugh about it all when she chatted live with Oprah on her show. Oprah said she “couldn’t believe you were put on hold for 11 minutes, I still haven't gotten over that.” When I first heard about this (having you share the cover), I thought it was such a fantastic idea. I was only sorry that I did not think of it myself. So I'm calling to officially invite you on the cover of O.”
Oprah acknowledges DeGeneres on her website as “a woman who can make things happen. When she decided she wanted to be on the cover of O, she pulled out all the stops. It worked. For only the second time in O history, this December, I'm sharing the cover with a woman I adore.”
All they ne
ed is Dr Hook to write a song about this.
