6-Nov-2009
Written by: Monica Stern-Morales

Rock star to play Spiderman in musical.

A meeting Friday left the creative team of future Broadway musical "Spider Man, Turn Off the Dark" announcing a team of new producers and their future lead character.

The production team will be led by Michael Cohl, with Jeremiah Harris second in command. They will be working with David Garkinkle and David Maisel, according to a press release.

And what of Peter Parker, reporter by day, super hero by night? Reeve Carney, lead singer of rock band Carney, will play the role leaving his rock roots behind for Broadway. Evan Rachel Woods will play his love interest Mary Jane Watson and the Green Goblin will be played by Alan Cumming, announced the New York Times.

The play wil open at the Hilton Theater next year, but no details have been released otherwise.
