Spider-Man Chosen for Broadway Musical
A professional team working on the Broadway rendition of Spider-Man has chosen a rocker to play timid Peter Parker.
On Friday, the creative forces behind "Spider-Man" Turn Off the Dark" issued a press release announcing production and casting decisions, reports New York Times.
According to the statement, the team selected Reeve Carney to play the role of Peter Parker. The decision was made "after an exhaustive search that included a casting call tour spanning six cities and thousands of candidates."
Reeve Carney is the lead singer of the rock band Carney.
The release also informed the public that Michael Cohl will be the lead producer for the show while Jeremiah J. Harris will work as second producer.
Evan Rachel Wood will join Carney as a member of the leading cast, playing Mary Jane Watson. Alan Cumming will take on the role of Norman Osborn, more commonly known as the Green Goblin.
The show is scheduled to open at some point in 2010 at the Hilton Theatre. In order to prepare for arrangements that the show will require, the Hilton has started to work on renovation projects, according to the AP.
