Michael Jackson's father seeks money from late son's estate
Michael Jackson's father wants help from his late son in the form of money that he says will help him with living expenses, according to court paper work.
And the sum he demands is no small matter either. Specifically Jackso's father seeks $20,000 per month, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Jackson's mother, Katherine, is already receiving $26,000 from the estate and Joe Jackson's lawyer feels that the father should be entitled to the same kind of treatment.
"He does not have a regular or steady source of income, and he was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson, through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support," attorney Brian Oxman wrote.
Apparently Michael had been paying his father's bills for decades. Oxman also said that both parents received a great deal more money from their son while he was alive.
Michael had formed a close bond with his mother, but his relationship with his father was strained, leaving some surprised at his father's request.
The request does not contain an exact number Joe Jackson seeks but it does list over $15,000 in expenses.
A request for an immediate hearing was denied.
