Yankee fans gathered throughout Manhattan today to celebrate the team’s 27th World Series Championship
The city of New York celebrated with the Yankees, two days after the Bronx Bombers won their 27th World Series Championship.
Fans packed Broadway hours before the victory parade began in an attempt to celebrate with their heroes. The parade went from Battery Park to City Hall in downtown Manhattan as confetti fell from the skyscrapers above.
Rapper and Yankees fan Jay-Z was present at the event, sharing a float with 3rd baseman Alex Rodriguez, before capping the event with his hit song, “Empire State of Mind.”
Yankee legends Yogi Berra and Reggie Jackson were also present at the event. Jackson reminded players to enjoy this event, as they never know if they will be a part of this experience again.
The parade ended at City Hall where Yankee management and players were presented with keys to the city. Shortstop Derek Jeter and other Yankee players spoke, thanking the crowd for their support. Fans chanted “28,” in reference to another championship, as the players took the stage.
The event was carried live on various television stations throughout the New York area.
