“Spider-Man” Musical Gets Its Parker And Major Producer

The musical “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark” is set to begin its run Feb. 28, 2010 on Broadway at the Hilton Theater. The show’s songs which are penned by U2’s Bono and The Edge, just got its Peter Parker and a mega producer to help run the helms of this somewhat overzealous show.
Michael Cohl, the former chairman of Live Nation, has worked in the past with U2 and was more than willing to help take charge of this grandiose idea. Reeve Carney will be taking on the role of Peter Parker in the play, alongside already announced Evan Rachel Wood as Mary Jane Watson and Alan Cumming as the Green Goblin.
The backers behind the show plan to have full financing for the show in the very near future so production of this deeply ambitious effort can take place.
According to Variety.com, “Cohl comes aboard a technically enormous production that has had a bumpy ride since the project was announced. Work on the tuner, with a budget estimated by observers to be in the $50 million range and running costs expected to hit a sky-high $1 million per week, was halted over the summer due to what producers called cash flow issues.”
