Joe Jackson Seeks Allowance from Michael's Estate
Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, filed an unspecified amount for an allowance from his late son's estate. Court papers included a monthly budget exceeding $15,000 consisting of $2,500 for eating out, $1,500 in rent and $5,000 for hotels and airfare.
The court papers were filed on Friday. Joe's immediate hearing request on the issue was denied by a judge.
Attorney Brian Oxman wrote in the Los Angeles County Supreme Court filing, "He does not have a regular or steady source of income, and he was dependent upon the money provided by his son, Michael Jackson, through his wife, Katherine Jackson, for his support,"
Michael's estate is currently providing his mother, Katherine Jackson, a monthly allowance of $26,000. Katherine was named a beneficiary of a family trust Michael had set up by his will and guardian of his three children at the time of his death.
