Roland Emmerich: "This is my last, quote-unquote, action-disaster movie,"
Roland Emmerich's latest destruction of the earth in "2012" consists of a massive solar flare shooting invisible neutrons into the core of the earth. The film also includes the sea rising, shifting of tectonic plates and volcano eruptions.
Emmerich's "2012" is a $200 million production via Sony and executive produced by Mark Gordon.
"2012" stars John Cusack plays a failed book writer turned limo driver for a Russian oligarch, Amanda Peet is opposite Cusack as his ex-wife and Woody Harrelson.
The world premiere for the movie was held on Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles. While on the red carpet Emmerich mentioned that he and writer/producer Harald Kloser had come up with an idea for a TV series called "2013". The series will be about what happens after the disaster of "2012".
The German director, Roland Emmerich, is behind movies like "Independence Day" and "The Day After Tomorrow".
"2012" comes to theaters Nov. 13.
