Joe Francis Gets Probation
Joe Francis, 38, was sentenced by a judge on Friday to 301 days time served and a year probation for bribing Nevada jail workers and filing false tax returns.
The "Girls Gone Wild" founder also has to return $249,000 to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and a $10,000 fine that was put in place by U.S District Judge S. James Otero.
Francis was indicted in 2007 by a federal grand jury on tax evasion charges and was accused of taking $20 million in falsified tax deductions. He pleaded guilty in Sept. to two misdemeanor charges.
Brad Brian, Francis' head trial attorney, stated after the sentencing "It took us seven months, but in the end we demonstrated that the felony tax charges never should have been brought in the first place. As a result, the indictment was dismissed and the charges were reduced to only two misdemeanors with no jail time."
