Terrelle Pryor throws for two touchdowns and rushes for another as 16th ranked Ohio State defeats 11th ranked Penn State 24-7
Despite being one of the most highly sought after high school recruits in recent college football history, Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor has had a difficult time showing consistency as a collegiate performer. He has been much-maligned throughout his first year and a half as an Ohio State Buckeye largely due to his inability to show significant progress as a quarterback as well as his lack of a signature performance.
However, the signature performance that college football fans have been waiting to see may have very well occurred on Saturday when Pryor led the 16th ranked Buckeyes to a 24-7 victory over their conference rival, the 11th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. Pryor’s statistics did not blow anyone away since he went just 8 for 17 passing with 125 yards and two touchdowns.
However, Pryor also ran for a touchdown and perhaps most importantly he came up biggest in the most crucial moments of the game. The formerly mistake-prone Pryor did not commit a turnover and the Ohio State rushing attack proved to be far too dominant for Penn State’s generally stout defensive unit.
Ohio State’s victory combined with Northwestern’s shocking upset of the 4th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday make the Buckeyes’ Big Ten Championship dreams a far more realistic aspiration than it appeared to be coming into today. Pryor will lead the Buckeyes against the Hawkeyes next Saturday that will likely determine the winner of the conference championship.
