Protestors Express Displeasure over Health Care Bill Outside Capitol
It was reported late Friday night that several House Democrats made revisions to their original health care reform bill in order to help sway previously undecided voters and to ensure that the vote on the bill would occur on Saturday as originally scheduled. With the vote expected to occur in a couple of hours, hundreds of protestors rallied outside of the Capitol to express their displeasure over government-controlled health care.
The anti-health care reform protest lasted for approximately an hour and a half according to CNN.com and the crowd chanted several rally cries including, "Hell, no!" and "Kill the bill!". In an attempt to encourage the protestors who were voicing their displeasure over the contents of the bill, a handful of Republican lawmakers spoke to them to praise their efforts and ask them to spread the word.
The individual who was responsible for organizing today's health care reform protest, Tea Party Patriots organizer Jenny Beth Martin, gave her opinion about the Democrats' proposed bill, saying, "It may pass out of the House tonight. We do realize that. But there is the Senate still. And we are going to leave no stone unturned and fight the government taking over our health care."
