Yankees Fans Get Caught Up In Confetti Frenzy

City workers report finding financial records that were tossed onto the street in celebration

As the Yankee victory parade continued, many fans began to run out of confetti to throw.

So they used the next best thing: confidential office documents.

"Ticker-tape" parades have been a staple of victory parades in the city for as long as anyone can remember. While actual ticker-tape is no longer used, the Downtown Alliance distributed a half-ton of confetti to office buildings overlooking the Canyon of Heroes where the parade took place.

The New York Post reported that city sanitation workers began to find various personal documents that were meant to be shredded throughout the streets of Manhattan. These documents were tossed from the skyscrapers as players rode by.

"We're finding pay stubs. We're finding personal financial information. We found a balance sheet of someone's trust fund showing $300,000 in stock," said Damian Salo in an interview with the Post.

Some of the documents found belonged to a downtown financial firm. These documents included client information, including their social security numbers and banking account information.

They have found the employee responsible and they have been reprimanded the firm told the Post.

The city estimates that nearly 50 tons of refuse were left on the streets, giving city workers plenty of work for the time being.
