Jake Gyllenhaal To Star In Unique Sci-Fi Thriller
Jake Gyllenhaal's next star-role may be in "Source Code", a sci-fi thriller from Vendome Pictures and The Mark Gordon Co. With Duncan Jones on as director and Mark Gordon producing, production should begin in the first quarter of 2010.
The premise of "Source Code" sounds intriguing enough, if not a little creepy. Gyllenhaal would be playing the role of a soldier who wakes up in the body of someone else. Been there, done that, right? Except he finds himself on a train and must relive a grisly bombing over and over until he can find the person responsible and prevent it from happening.
To be distributed by Summit Entertainment, the movie is aimed to appeal to a world-wide audience and is supposed to be an example of the type of movies Vendome plans to create in the future. Rousselet and co-CEO Fabrice Gianfermi are set to produce over a dozen movies in the next five years.
Gyllenhaal's other current projects include "Love and Other Drugs," "Brothers," and Disney's "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time." Jones is currently writing the screenplay for the upcoming film "Mute." Gordon's most recent projects are "2012," "The Details" and "The Messenger."
