Zach's First Stand
This past week's episode of "Little People, Big World" divided the family into two. It was about miscommunication, and standing up for one's beliefs.
Matt had scheduled a "family" sailing trip for the kids' Spring Break to the British Virgin Islands. However, Amy had already planned a prior speaking commitment in Wisconsin that same week. The episode began with Molly discussing the trip with Amy, while helping her cook dinner. At this time, Molly said she wanted to go on the trip.
Then Jeremy and Matt went shopping for their trip. They bought a lot of sun tan lotion.
Back at home, Zack was very upset about how his mom could not go on the trip. Here Jeremy made a side note about how Zach is like Amy; they are more black and white. Jeremy on the other hand, is more like his dad, in the grey area.
At this point, the family went out for breakfast. Zach didn't want to go, so he stayed at home.
After returning home, Matt and Amy had a discussion about the trip. Amy said she had planned the trip before Matt started planning his, but Matt said he didn't remember this. The whole discussion led to Amy getting mad, and storming out of the room. After Amy left, Matt began to wonder what was going on with Zach, and what was on his mind.
The next day Amy explained that Zach and Matt had a big fight about the trip the night before. She said Zach did not want to talk or deal with his dad. Upstairs at the same time, Zach called Molly into his room to talk to her about the whole situation. He told her how he was feeling, and that he was thinking about not going on the trip.
Matt and Amy then tried to continue their discussion from earlier. While Amy was in Matt's office, Matt called his mom to ask her if his dad wanted to go on their trip. Amy got mad again because Matt had called it a son and father trip,' which wasn't going to be the case because Molly was planning to go. Amy told Matt that Zach felt like he was comparing things in regards to the trip, and that Zach wasn't ready to talk to his dad.
After a while, Matt had a discussion with Zach about the trip. Matt said he wanted Zach to come with them on the trip, but Zach said he still was not sure if he wanted to go. Matt also said he wanted his chance to go on a trip with the kids, like Amy got to on their last trip, but Zach fought back by saying that that was his choice he left during their last trip.
After all this controversy, Matt considered cancelling the trip, but he decided not to because he had already booked everything, and half the family still wanted to go. To add to all this chaos, Molly then decided she didn't want to go on the trip because Zach and her mom weren't going to go on it.
Amy then asked Jacob if he wanted to go on the trip. He said he wasn't sure, but he was bummed that Molly and Zach weren't going to go on it. Jeremy must have had enough of all this chaos, because he decided to leave the house for a while. He didn't tell anyone where he was going.
Zach and Molly finally decided to tell Matt that they were not going to go on the trip. Matt was surprised and disappointed. However, Jacob then decided he did want to go on the trip. The final group for the trip would be: Matt, Jeremy, Jacob, Jeremy's friend Mueller, Matt's dad, and Matt's best friend growing up, Eric.
That night Matt made a comment about how he knew Eric better than Jeremy and Zach know Mueller. This made Zach mad; Molly tried to calm down the situation, but it was no use. Zach left the scene upset and offended.
The episode ended with Zach, Molly and Amy talking on the couch. Amy clarified that she was still mad at Matt, and Zach and Molly decided they needed to develop their "game plan" for Spring Break, because they would be mad if they just sat at home on the couch all break.
