Drummer Dies From Elevator Fall

Indi-Rock band drummer passes away on Sunday

Gerhardt "Jerry" Fuchs passed away early Sunday morning after falling down an elevator shaft. Reports are saying, while Fuchs and a friend were at a benefit in Williamsburg, Brooklyn warehouse the freight elevator the pair was in got stuck between floors.

Fuchs' friend made a successful four-foot jump out the elevator; unfortunately Fuchs' jacket was snagged and pulled him backwards and through a crevice. His body was recovered by friends at the bottom of the shaft, but was unable to talk. The 34 year old drummer later died at Bellville hospital.

Jerry was the drummer for indie-rock bands such as Juan Maclean and Maserati. Maclean wrote on his official website "Jerry was one of my best and most loyal friends. He was hands-down the best drummer I have ever played with or seen for that matter,"

Recently, he was the drummer for the Toronto band MSTRKRFT during their performance on "The Late Show With David Letterman".
