Travolta Comes out of Seclusion to Promote Film
"We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal," John Travolta admitted in a rare interview with USA Today about how the family is coping since the death of son Jett in January.
"We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping." His wife, Kelly Preston, concurs, "we partake in spiritual counseling pretty much daily."
Jett, who was autistic, was 16 when he died of a seizure in the Grand Bahamas home the family owns on the island.
The couple is currently embroiled in an extortion case which ended in a hung jury and is set for retrial. A Bahamian Senator and a paramedic are accused of trying to extort $25 million from the actors to prevent information about Jett's death from going public.
The Travoltas have preferred their privacy during this difficult period but decided to come out of seclusion for their daughter Ella Bleu. The nine year old will make her feature film debut in "Old Dogs," also staring Travolta and Preston. The Walt Disney comedy is being released Nov. 25.
During a roundtable interview with the cast of the film, Travolta said, "we decided it was ok to come out and promote, to introduce her to the world and to give her a beautiful future in film."
