Tuesday's Fort Hood Memorial is going to be open to the public and thousands of visitors are expected to attend the service to commemorate the lives of those who were senselessly killed. President Obama provided a statement in response to the Fort Hood tragedy after it occurred that expressed his desire to prevent a similar occurrence from ever happening in the future.

His statement read, "We are going to complete this investigation and we're going to take whatever steps are necessary to make sure that something like this doesn't happen again." ABC's Bob Woodruff, who was allowed to visit with troops at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where those who were injured by the gunman are currently receiving treatment, is reporting that the survivors appear to be in remarkably positive spirits.
