Political experts are analyzing her status as a celebrity-politician and speculating that her celebrity status will not help her in the world of politics in the future
Former Governor of Alaska and former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin is scheduled to release her book entitled “Going Rogue: An American Life” on Tuesday November 17th and according to CNN.com, the publication currently ranks #1 in non-fiction pre-sales at Amazon.com. As part of her promotional tour to hype the release of “Going Rogue: An American Life”, Palin is scheduled to take part in an interview later this week with television personality Oprah Winfrey.
The interview will be aired next Monday, which is conveniently timed just one day prior to her book’s release date. Although Palin has not been in the public spotlight as a result of political action since her run as Republican Senator John McCain’s Vice Presidential candidate, she has maintained her status as the nation’s most recognizable Republican politician through her upcoming book, numerous speeches and an incredibly popular Facebook page that is frequently updated.
David Frum, a former speechwriter for 43rd President of the United States George W. Bush, provided a statement to CNN that described Palin as a politician who is more commonly viewed as a celebrity. Frum went on to explain that public perception of her celebrity may negatively affect her in the long-term when it comes to her political career, saying, "Americans tend not to elect celebrities. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the exception, but more often than not, people want something in their political leaders that is more steady, stable, and predictable."
