Anita Dunn Resigns as White House Communications Director

Dunn will leave her position at the end of November to serve as a White House consultant

Current interim White House Communications Director Anita Dunn has announced that she will be stepping down from her position in order to become a consultant to the White House in the fields of communications planning and strategic matters, according to ABC News. Dunn's departure from her position was expected since she initially took the position earlier this year on an interim basis.

The interim White House communications director had made her intentions known to the White House due to her desire to spend more quality time with her teenage son. When Dunn accepted her promotion to become the interim White House Communications Director, her predecessor Ellen Moran had abruptly stepped down to work with the Commerce Department.

According to The Washington Post, Dunn will not only become a White House consultant for communication and other strategic matters but she will return to work for the Squier Knapp Dunn consulting firm where she is a partner. Dunn will be replaced by current deputy communications director Dan Pfeiffer who served as a trusted advisor to President Barack Obama throughout his presidential campaign.

Before Dunn became an advisor for President Barack Obama during his presidential campaign in 2007, he served as an advisor for Democratic Senator Evan Bayh up until he decided to remove his name from consideration for the Party's presidential race.
