True Blood and "Twilight" Top Nominees for People's Choice Awards

The People's Choice Awards have announced the nominees that fans have selected through 18 million votes that have been cast at PeoplesChoice.com, According to The Associated Press. "Twilight" fans clearly voted early and often for the popular saga since it is up for an assortment of distinguished awards such as Favorite Movie Franchise, Favorite Movie and Favorite On-Screen Team.

The film's top stars are also up for individual awards with Kristen Stewart receiving a nomination for Favorite Movie Actress, Robert Pattinson receiving a nomination for Favorite Movie Actor and Taylor Lautner receiving a nomination for Breakout Movie Actor. While "Twilight" was the recipient of several film nominations, "True Blood" proved to be the most popular television series amongst fans.

"True Blood" is nominated for awards such as Favorite TV Obsession as well as Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show and Anna Paquin, the series' lead actress, is nominated in the category of Favorite TV Drama Actress. The series will face noticeably strong competition in the Favorite TV Obsession category since it is going up against the critically acclaimed "Dexter" as well as popular shows such as "Gossip Girl" and "The Hills".

PeoplesChoice.com, the official site for the People's Choice Awards, has announced that the People's Choice Awards will be held on January 6, 2010 at the Nokia Theatre and the event will be hosted by actress Queen Latifah.
