Rihanna to Take Woman of the Year Award

Glamour Magazine announced their pick of Rihanna as the Woman of the Year for 2009. In a well deserved, yet unsurprising nomination, Rihanna was chosen because of her poise and grace in handling her tough real-life experience with domestic abuse with longtime boyfriend, Chris Brown in Feb. 2009.

Showing up to Carnegie Hall in a daring, yet elegant ivory Stephane Rolland gown and Cartier and H. Stern jewelry, Rihanna joined 10 other special women to be honored by Glamour Magazine. Her prestigious award was presented by supermodel Iman who was "impressed with Rihanna's dignity and courage."

The ten other women who were honored alongside Rihanna were: Maria Shriver, Stella McCartney, Amy Poehler, Marissa Mayer, Serena Williams, pediatrician Jane Aronson, Susan Rice, Euna Lee and Laura Ling, The Women of Iran's One Million Signature Campaign and Maya Angelou. First Lady Michelle Obama also received special recognition.
