Carrie Underwood Tops Billboard Charts
Carrie Underwood's new album debut No. 1 on the Billboards this week, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Underwood's new album, Play On, led the music chart with 318,000 copies sold.
Following Underwood were last week's top Billboard 200 seller, Michael Jackson's "This Is It" at No.2 with 196,000 copies sold, Andrea Bocelli's "My Christmas" at No.3 with 149,000 copies, at No. 4 Fox's series Glee "Glee: The Music, Vol.1" with 113,000 albums sold, and "Now That's What I Call Music! 32" hit the charts at No. 5 with 105,000 copies sold.
This week Billboard announced it will no longer exclude titles older than 18 months from being in the Billboard 200 charts, this will allow albums from past years and are re-mastered to enter the charts.
Underwood began her career in 2005 when she won the American Idol competition.
She is scheduled to co-host the 43rd Country Music Awards (CMA) with country music artist Brad Paisley Wednesday night.
