Mike Tyson Arrested on Charges of Battery at LAX Airport
Breaking news has been reported by The Associated Press that former boxing heavyweight champion of the world Mike Tyson was involved in a physical altercation with a photographer at the Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday. Tyson has been arrested on charges of battery for allegedly assaulting the member of the paparazzi. Specific details about what exactly caused the incident to occur have not been revealed.
Kevin Lowe, a sergeant for the Los Angeles Police Department, provided vague details regarding the incident and mentioned that Tyson had been detained but it was unknown at the time as to whether or not he was still at the Los Angeles International Airport.
Tyson allegedly engaged in a scuffle with an unidentified photographer at the Los Angeles International Airport in Terminal 7, according to LAX's police spokesman, Sergeant Jim Holcomb. The New York Daily News is reporting that Tyson claims the photographer initiated physical contact by shoving him before Tyson retaliated by punching him in the face.
The controversial former world champion has a checkered history with the law, most notably due to a 1992 felony conviction for the rape of then-18-year-old Desiree Washington for which he received a six year prison sentence. Tyson was released from jail after serving just three years of his six-year sentence due to quality behavior.
