Bergen, Roddenberry among new inductees into TV Hall of Fame
Actress Candice Bergen, "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry, the Smothers Brothers, radio/television announcer Don Pardo, art/set director & production designer Charles Lisanby and television producer Bob Stewart have been chosen as the next set of inductees into the Television Academy's Hall of Fame.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "The inductees were selected by a Hall of Fame selection committee from submissions from TV Academy members and industry representatives."
WME partner/top syndication and reality agent Mark Itkin chaired the committee, which also included industry bigwigs such as ABC TV Group President Anne Sweeney, Mike Darnell, Fox's president of alternative entertainment, MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo President of Programming Brian Graden, TV producer/director Lee Miller and production designer and President of the Art Directors Guild Thomas Walsh.
"These individuals have each made extraordinary and lasting contributions that have meant so much to multiple generations of television viewers," Itkin said. "Their work will endure for decades to come."
This prestigious group of television visionaries will be honored at a Jan. 20 ceremony to be conducted at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Miller will produce the Hall of Fame extravaganza along with Kevin Hamburger, who has previously been nominated for seven Primetime Emmys.
