Jeffrey Tambor to join NBC legal dramedy pilot

'Arrested Development' alum Jeffrey Tambor will be starring in the NBC legal dramedy pilot entitled 'Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.'

Actor Jeffrey Tambor is set to star in the hourlong NBC pilot entitled "Rex Is Not Your Lawyer," opposite David Tennant.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "'Rex,' from Universal Media Studios and BermanBraun, centers on Rex Alexander (Tennant), a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court. ‘Arrested Development' alum Tambor will play Rex's psychiatrist, a specialist in anxiety disorders who himself suffers from them and who also becomes romantically involved with Rex's mother.'"

Tennant's past credits include starring in 2005's "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."

David Semel is on tap to direct the legal comedy. His past credits include helming several episodes of the NBC science fiction series "Heroes" as well as the Fox medical drama "House." Andrew Leeds and David Lampson penned "Rex's" script.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say that, "Showrunner Barry Schindel, Semel, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein are exec producing, with Leeds and Lampson serving as supervising producers."

Schindel's past credits include being the executive producer behind several episodes of the CBS Rob Morrow/David Krumholtz/Judd Hirsch drama "Numb3rs." Meanwhile, both Berman and Braun are the executive producers of the recently picked up CBS comedy "Accidentally On Purpose," which stars ABC's "Dharma & Greg" alum Jenna Elfman.

As for Tambor, his recent credits include voicing a character in the 2009 animated hit "Monsters vs. Aliens," as well as starring in 2009's "The Hangover" and the Ricky Gervais/Jennifer Garner comedy "The Invention of Lying."
