U2 are ticketed by the Noise Police
U2 was fined $53,000 by the City of Dublin for breaching noise levels during the band's three performances in Croke Park which took place last July. That's right, the band was ticketed for noise pollution. Insert dig here.
The concert promoter, MCD, allowed U2 to exceed the noise limit several times during the shows and was responsible for 12 breaches over the three nights of concerts. The Irish Independent called the fines "paltry," considering the millions in profits made during the shows. Croke Park Area Residents complained it took over 44 hours to dismantle the stage.
The band is out in support of their "No Line on the Horizon" album.
The tour has been criticized by environmental groups for its unreasonably large size. Over 135 trucks are needed to haul 500,000 pounds of equipment which will emit three times more carbon than Madonna's 2006 world tour, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
Bono himself just prayed this past year that we "become better in looking after our planet."
