The Who likely to perform at Super Bowl

Though not officially confirmed by the NFL, it looks like the popular English rock band, The Who, will be the star of Super Bowl XLIV's halftime show.

A report from SI.com has unofficially announced that the famed English rock band known as The Who has signed on to perform at Super Bowl XLIV's halftime show.

This performance would make it the band's first appearance in the U.S. since 2008.

An article on HollywoodReporter.com delved further into the story, "SI.com reports that the veteran U.K. band will take the stage during the halftime show of the 2010 NFL championship game, scheduled for Feb. 7 in Miami."

Yet, despite SI.com's report, the NFL has not yet confirmed that the band will indeed take the stage on the most heralded day for football fans.

The Who, which formed in 1964, primarily consists of guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon.

The HollywoodReporter.com article then mentions, "During a recent stop on his ‘Use It or Lose It' solo tour, frontman Roger Daltrey told Billboard.com that he and bandmate/composer Pete Townshend were working on new material for the Who's followup to 2006's ‘Endless Wire.'"

"Hopefully if this tour has done it's job, I'll be in really good form as a vocalist," said Daltrey. "And who knows, we might make our best work."

Meanwhile, Townshend has announced his involvement in two other projects. The first being a new musical, entitled "Floss," and the other being The Who's next album, which Townshend has said will have some elements of "Floss" dispersed throughout.
