USC drops in newest AP poll
Following its embarrassing home loss to Stanford, USC has dropped to their lowest ranking since Pete Carroll took over in 2002.
The Trojans dropped 11 spots in the new AP poll, down to No. 22. USC hasn't been ranked lower than 13th since October of 2002.
However, the Cardinal rose 11 spots, to No. 14. This is the highest Stanford has been ranked since 2001 when they were No. 11.
Florida remained the top team in the country, receiving 36 first place votes. The Gators are followed by Alabama, Texas, TCU and Cincinnati.
The stage is set for the SEC championship game on December 5. The game will most likely serve as a play-in game to the national championship, with the winner heading to Pasadena on January 7. As long as Texas can handle Texas A&M and their opponent in the Big 12 championship game, they will join the SEC champion.
If they stumble however, TCU is in good position to jump into the championship game. The horned Frogs won convincingly, beating Utah 55-28 on Saturday. It would be the first time a school from a non-BCS conference has made it to the national championship game.
