It was a move that baffled many people—James Franco doing a guest stint on ABC's daytime soap "General Hospital." The actor talked about his experience on the set to New York Magazine, but didn't reveal much about his decision to join a soap opera or what his role is.

The experience is "mind-blowing," Franco said after only one day of working on the set of "GH."

"They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that's what we planned to shoot in a single day," he said, explaining that they probably shot "seven episodes" of his material.

That's one of the biggest differences in shooting a film and a soap, "You do one take," he said.

Not revealing anything about his character, Franco said, "I don't know what's going to happen. It's all open."

Spoiler alert:
According to Soaps.com, Franco is the name of his character. He is described as "a psychotic yet-self-deprecating artist who is fixated on death and will zero in on Jason Morgan."

Steve Burton, who plays Jason on the daytime hit, did reveal that Franco becomes "fascinated" with him and what he does for a living. "[Franco] thinks they both love death and are essentially the same kind of guy," Burton details.

That adoration soon turns ugly when Jason doesn't want to meet Franco. Promotions of the upcoming episodes also paint a very dark and mysterious picture of Franco and his impact on "General Hospital."

Franco's role will last about two months, beginning Nov. 20.
