‘My Little Pony' rides onto the small screen

Hasbro's "My Little Pony" will be galloping into their own television series on the new upcoming Discovery-Hasbro kids channel.

According to a HollywoodReporter.com article, "The newly formed Hasbro Studios, which is designed to be a main supplier of the new channel, has put ‘Pony' on a fast development track. Hasbro Studios had been looking into several Hasbro brands as potential series vehicles. ‘Pony' emerged as a frontrunner following the strong showing of one-hour special ‘My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure' on the Disney Channel Nov. 6.'"

The channel was created as a result of a joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery.

Hasbro Studios president Stephen Davis believes that the unexpected triumph of "Pony" on the Disney Channel supports his certainty of the property's longevity.

The HollywoodReporter.com article concludes by saying that, "'Pony' will undergo a multi-platform development for TV as well as video game and other digital extensions.'"

"Pony's" journey onto the small screen makes it the first Hasbro property to generate its own television series.Hasbro was founded in 1923 and is one of the largest toy makers in the world. The "My Little Pony" line of multicolored toy ponies was introduced in 1983 and became incredibly popular in the 1980s even outselling Mattel's "Barbie" at one point.
