Rachelle Lefevre Noticeably Absent from "New Moon" Premiere, Monday

The actress whose character in the Twilight saga has been recast voluntarily chose to skip the premiere

The actress who played the character of Victoria in the first and second installments of the Twilight saga, Rachelle Lefevre, reportedly chose to skip Monday's "New Moon" premiere in Los Angeles. According to People.com, Lefevre posted a message on her Twitter account to shed light on her decision to voluntarily miss the film's L.A. premiere. Her Tweet stated, "2 fans at the premiere: w/ Honey in hospital & being fired from Eclipse tonight was just 2 emotional 4 me & I couldn't manage it. So sorry." Honey is the name of Lefevre's dog and "Eclipse" is the third installment of the Twilight franchise.

Lefevre's role in the Twilight saga was recast for actress Bryce Dallas Howard as a result of Summit Entertainment's decision to replace her back in July. Summit Entertainment reportedly opted to recast the character of Victoria as a result of scheduling conflicts that arose due to Lefevre's role in "Barney's Version", which was slated to begin shooting on the same day as "Eclipse".

However, Lefevre clarified that her role in the independent film "Barney's Version" would last for a duration of just ten days. She commented on the studio's decision to recast Victoria by saying, "I was fully committed to the "Twilight" saga and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules."
