Jackson's Estate and Memorial Service Disputes Still Not Settled

The ongoing disputes over the late Michael Jackson's estate and public memorial service continue to get ugly

John Franklin, a spokesman for Los Angeles city attorney Carmen Trutanich, revealed on Monday that the city is expecting financial reimbursement for the funds that they provided to the public memorial service for the late pop icon, Michael Jackson. Franklin stated that the city of Los Angeles spent $3 million on the public ceremony and the city intends on collecting reimbursement from the company that owns the Staples Center, which is AEG.

Although the city expects to be repaid for their contributions to Michael Jackson's memorial service, the President and CEO of AEG, Tim Leiweke has come forward to reveal his belief that Trutanich is merely attempting to bully AEG into reimbursing funds that he believes they are not entitled to.

To go along with the continued battle over memorial ceremony funds, disputes over control of the late Michael Jackson's estate are also ongoing. While Michael Jackson's mother gave up her battle against the two men who were named as the executives of Jackson's vacated estate and likenesses, his father, Joe Jackson, has picked up where the mother had left off.

Joe Jackson intends on challenging the court's ruling to grant control to attorney John Branca and music industry executive John McClain, according to The New York Times. However, it is reportedly doubtful that Jackson's appeal will be successful and he has already failed in his attempt to receive funds from his late son's estate due to the fact that he was omitted from Michael Jackson's will.
