Beyonc and Lady Gaga's Much Anticipated "Video Phone" Unveiled
The world premiere of Beyonce Knowles and Lady Gaga's "Video Phone" collaboration aired last night on MTV to widespread critical acclaim and fan anticipation. The video was directed by industry legend Hype Williams and it featured the two A-List divas in matching outfits while dancing and posing alongside each other. Lady Gaga revealed, during an interview with MTV.com, that she wanted to dress up as Beyonce in the video as opposed to dressing up as herself in her usual eccentric and innovative costumes.
Interestingly enough, the video also features Lady Gaga in a noticeably stripped down light since she wore no makeup on her face for the video. The diva who is universally renowned throughout the industry for her elaborately detailed makeup designs and overall creativity when it comes to her appearance was reportedly eager to pay homage to her co-star in the video by dressing like her.
Lady Gaga told MTV.com during her interview that when she spoke to Beyoncé, she said, "I said, 'I want to do you in your video, and I want to tribute you. I want to dress up like you.' [Hype Williams] was like, 'Gaga I want no makeup on your face.' It was really stripped down [with] real Beyoncé hair, and we wore the same outfit in the video, and I [paid tribute to] her."
