American Idol Runner-Up Adam Lambert Discusses Sexuality, New Album

The openly homosexual American Idol runner-up addresses his management's request to "Out" magazine not to make Lambert appear to be too gay

Adam Lambert's management stirred up quite a bit of controversy with gay publication "Out" when they asked them not to make their client seem to be "too gay". Aaron Hicklin, the publication's editor-in-chief, wrote a scathing letter directed towards Lambert and his management team that reads, "Apparently, Out was too gay, even for you. There was the issue of what it would do to your record sales, we were told. Imagine! A gay musician on the cover of a gay magazine. What might the parents think!"

Lambert responded to the criticism by clarifying during an interview with MTV News that he is proud of his sexuality but does not want to alienate his audience based on the fact that he is a homosexual. The performer mentioned that he wants potential listeners to pay attention to the quality of the music as opposed to his sexuality. The former American Idol contestant also revealed that he worked with music industry stars such as Lady Gaga and Pink for his debut album, according to Reuters.

Lambert raised speculation about his sexuality throughout his run on the "American Idol" reality show due to his utilization of eyeliner and nail polish to enhance his glam rock appearance. However, the performer has revealed that he did not intentionally drop hints that he was a homosexual due to his intention to focus on having entertainment value determine his outcome on the show.

He ended up as the second-place finisher on the show and officially came out of the closet after its conclusion but the 27-year-old is now primed to take the next step in his career with the scheduled release of his debut album entitled "For Your Entertainment" on November 22nd.
