Nicolas Cage Sued for Lavish Lifestyle

Former account manager of Oscar-winning actor says he did his job!

Nicolas Cage has been going through some rough financial times after years of lavish spending. After suing his former business manager, Samuel J. Levin, for $20 million, Cage may be the one shelling out the dough. Levin filed a countersuit in Beverly Hills on Nov, 12 for $129,000.

So what's the stem of this disagreement? Sounds like a classic case of miscommunication. Cage claims that Levin committed fraud and gave advice that resulted in his financial woes while Levin wants to retain his smudge-free record in addition to receiving pay for work he did after being fired in 2008.

Files state that Levin had crafted a plan for Cage to sell a dozen automobiles and his $1.6 million comic book collection to help with his debt. But Marty Singer, Cage's attorney, said that Levin has been paid $1.3 million for these services and that the claims made in the countersuit are 'absurd.'

While Cage claims that he didn't know about his financial problems until after getting rid of Levin and that it was Levin's job to keep up with the finances, the former financial manager insists that he warned Cage a long time ago that he would need to earn $30 million a year to keep up with his lifestyle.

So what kind of lifestyle is needed to bring an Oscar-winning actor to his financial knees? In 2007, Cage bought $33 million in property, 22 automobiles (Who needs that many cars? Really, now...) and close to 50 pieces of expensive jewelry, art, and other things that 99% of the world can't afford. He also regularly throws lavish parties.

Time will tell how this plays out, but it should be noted that Levin has been licensed as a certified public accountant in California for nearly 25 years without so much as a blemish on his record.
