AT&T Sues Verizon Over Ads to Gain Holiday Shopping Season Advantage
Representatives from Verizon Wireless have come forward to announce their belief that AT&T's decision to sue the company over their recently introduced advertising campaign was strategically timed in order to gain a tactical advantage during this year's holiday shopping season.
According to The USA Today, AT&T is not questioning the validity of Verizon Wireless' claims in their advertisements that their coverage maps feature five times the amount of 3G coverage that AT&T provides.
As a result of this recent discovery that AT&T is simply stating in their lawsuit that Verizon Wireless' advertisements are misleading', a Verizon spokesman has released a statement that reads, "AT&T sued because Verizon's ads are true and the truth hurt."
AT&T is seeking a decision from the court to have Verizon Wireless' 3G coverage maps removed from their advertising campaign. The specific problem that the mobile phone service provider has with Verizon's maps is the utilization of white space in areas where AT&T does not provide 3G coverage.
While the main issue that has been revealed publicly is the fact that AT&T has allegedly filed suit against Verizon simply to gain a tactical upper-hand during the competitive holiday market, consumer experts believe that potential customers should focus more on the unreliability of claims made in advertisements by mobile phone service providers.
