Palin Calls Newsweek Cover 'Sexist' Due to Photograph That Was Used

Republican politician Sarah Palin expresses her displeasure over the picture that was used on the cover of the publication

Prominent Republican politician and former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin revealed that she is offended by the cover of Newsweek magazine that features a photograph of her wearing a pair of short shorts as well as a headline that reads, "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Sarah?". The photograph that was used by Newsweek had been taken from Runner's World Magazine and it shows her wearing a pair of sneakers, a pair of short black shorts and a long sleeve red top to go along with her signature glasses.

Palin expressed her opinion about the Newsweek cover on her Facebook fan page, where she simply described the publication's usage of the picture as ‘sexist'. While Newsweek's decision to use a cover photograph of Palin from Runner's World Magazine certainly may have been out of context, it was a picture that she posed for in a photo shoot for the Runner's World publication as opposed to one that was taken by the paparazzi. As a result, her claims of sexism have been deemed as controversial and some experts have described the comment as off base.

Tina Brown, who is the founder and editor of The Daily Beast, commented on Palin's complaints during an appearance on NBC's "The Today Show", saying, "I actually think that Sarah Palin has as much right to criticize how to be an editor of Newsweek as she did to run as Vice President. She posed for that picture. This was just her in her sporting clothes."
