Who Will Be This Year's Best New Artist?
With the year 2009 ending in just a couple months, it's almost time for the Grammy Awards to take place. It's common knowledge that when the award for Best New Artist is given out, the word "new" is to be taken with a grain of salt, but this year many artists who people would expect to find in the category won't be there.
To be eligible to be Best New Artist, nominees must release their first recording that puts them in the public eyesight during the months of eligibility, which were October 1, 2008 through August 31, 2009.
Disqualified from this years Best New Artist category are Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi, and Phoenix. Variety Magazine has thought of a few options that could fill the category, including Keri Hilson, Owl City, Diane Birch, and Kevin Rudolf.
The 2010 Grammy's will take place January 31 at the Staples Center, and will air live on CBS.
