The head coach of the Cleveland Browns as well as certain players are attempting to appeal to Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James to encourage him to join the team

The Cleveland Browns franchise is currently in a state of catastrophic turmoil after starting the 2009 season with eight losses in the team's first nine outings. There are very few bright spots on the team and many Cleveland Browns fans are pessimistic about the team's chances of winning another game in the 2009 season. However, Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini as well as starting quarterback Brady Quinn went to the media to try and encourage Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James to give up the sport of basketball in favor of football.

When asked by members of the media as to whether or not James could truly help the Cleveland Browns win football games, Mangini responded by saying, "I think he should come on down." Quinn elaborated on a potential transition from basketball to football by James, stating, "Tell him to suit up and let us know, we'll get him working. Obviously he's an incredibly talented athlete. If he wants to try to play a little bit now, we'd be more than willing to pick him up."

The comments by Mangini and Quinn were inspired by James' comments that he made on Tuesday night that if he had the opportunity to make a commitment to football full-time that he could develop into a quality player. Mangini described James as an athletic freak and specifically stated his belief that he could play wide receiver, tight end or outside linebacker due to his 6'8" 260 pound frame and tremendous physical gifts.
