John Oliver Gets Comedy Central Series
John Oliver was given a comedy series on Comedy Central beginning 2010, reported Variety magazine.
Oliver, correspondent for the satirical news "The Daily Show with John Stewart," received six episodes on Comedy Central which will premiere on January 8.
The series "John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show" will be hosted by Oliver and will feature four comedians per episode. Comedians invited to perform include "Sarah Silverman's" Brian Posehn, Nick Kroll from "The League," and Kristen Schaal from "Flight of the Conchords."
The comedy series will be co-produced by Oliver alongside David Martin, James Taylor, Jon Thoday and Richard Allen-Turner.
Oliver began his appearances on "The Daily Show" in 2006 and has since made appearances on the NBC sitcom "Community." Oliver's appeared in his first Comedy Central stand-up television special "John Oliver: Terrifying Times" in 2008.
The comedy series will be produced by the United Kingdom independent television production company, Avalon.
