Say Goodbye to Oprah
Of all the talk shows that come and go, it seemed like "The Oprah Winfrey Show" was that one staple that would always be there: an iconic testament to an host's power to last. Sadly, even this show must come to an end.
Tim Bennett sent an email to Channel 5 on Thursday informing the station of the end of Oprah's beloved show.
"Tomorrow (Firday), Oprah will announce live on The Oprah Winfrey Show' that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and endearing programs in television history. The sun will set on the Oprah' show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011."
Oprah has been on air since 1983, when she began hosting a struggling talk show for a half-hour segment. In 1986, her popularity had reached such heights that the show was increased to an entire hour and nationally broadcasted to adoring fans.
According to WCCO, the ultimate decision was left to the lady herself. Oprah made the final call end the show.
She will make the announcement on Friday during her show, airing at its regular time of 4 p.m. on Channel 5.
