'Spirit of Christmas' to be big celebration in New York

Santa Claus, reindeer, elves, music, and showgirls. What more could you want?

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University will present "The Spirit of Christmas." This is set to be a big holiday-season celebration with music, showgirls, and all of Santa's little helpers in attendance.

The show promises to spark nostalgia in all in attendance with classic Christmas music mixed in with Broadway's best. The current playlist includes "White Christmas," "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "The Little Drummer Boy," "Silent Night," "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Joy to the World," "The First Noel," "I'll Be Home for Christmas," "Frosty the Snowman," and, of course, you can't have a Christmas celebration without Jackson 5's timeless "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus."

But there's something missing . . . hmm, what could it be? Well, none other than Jolly Ol' St. Nick himself! Santa Claus will be in the building come Dec. 8 to round off the Brooks Center celebration.

Tickets for "The Spirit of Christmas" are $30 for adults and $20 for students. Tickets and information are available at www.clemson.edu/Brooks or from the box office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Don't forget to bring the mistletoe.
