Cincinnati QB faces jail time
In order to avoid spending the holiday season in jail, University of Cincinnati quarterback Zach Collaros must complete an alcohol education class.
This comes after Collaros was accused of attempting to use a fake ID to get into a Cincinnati bar. Collaros has until Dec. 7 to complete the class, otherwise he faces up to 180 days in jail.
Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard made his point very clear to the Bearcats sophomore QB, telling him that this was not like "blowing off a math class" and that he needs to mature.
Collaros also needs to pay a $200 fine as a part of his sentence. Through his attorney, Collaros said that he would begin the program immediately.
Collaros has started four games for the #5 Bearcats this season; taking over on October 15 when starting quarterback Tony Pike was injured. In those four games, Collaros has been impressive, leading the Bearcats to four wins while compiling a QB rating of 195.53. He has thrown for 1,434 yards and ten touchdowns on the year.
A Cincinnati spokesperson has refused to comment on the situation.
