Celebrity Friends of Oprah Winfrey Comment on Closure of Her Talk Show

Martha Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres and Gayle King have released statements response to the announcement that "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will end in 2011

It was revealed yesterday through a letter that was distributed by the HARPO production company to 214 local television stations that "The Oprah Winfrey Show" would air its final episode on September 9, 2011. By the time of the finale's completion, the show will have endured the most successful run of any daytime talk show over the past quarter century. Television personality Martha Stewart, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and Winfrey's best friend Gayle King have released statements in response to the announcement that "The Oprah Winfrey Show" will be coming to an end after a 25 year run on network television.

The comments from Stewart and King were provided to People.com at the 40th birthday party for Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, which was held last night at New York City's Plaza Hotel. Stewart expressed her admiration for the most successful talk show host in history, stating, "She'll do another show. She's evolving, she's fabulous." King clarified that Winfrey will have no problem staying busy, saying, "I have a feeling she will come up with things to do. She has a very full life, life is good for her."

Winfrey's colleague, DeGeneres, felt the need to break the news about her show on her very own daytime talk show on Thursday. DeGeneres revealed to her studio audience that she had received word from Winfrey that her long-running show would come to an end in two years.
