Celebrities Gather to Honor True Heroes
Finally!
The stars are coming together to celebrate something other than themselves. The annual CNN Heroes Awards honors 10 ordinary people who make extraordinary efforts to make a difference in the world.
The top 10 CNN Heroes are chosen by a blue-ribbon panel from an initial pool of more than 9,000 viewer nominations. Each of the top-10 Heroes receives $25,000, according to CNN.com.
The event will feature performances by Grammy Award-winning artist Carrie Underwood, R&B crooner Maxwell and British pop sensation Leona Lewis. Each performance is supposed to echo the character of the Heroes event: everyday people making differences in their community and the world.
Presenters included Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Neil Patrick Harris, Pierce Brosnan, Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes, Randy Jackson, Greg Kinnear, George Lopez and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The gala event was taped before an audience of 3,000 at the Kodak Theatre and premieres on Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, at 9 p.m. on CNN.
